Hey everyone! Odysseus again. Today has probably been the most wild of them all so far. After we stabbed the cyclops's eye out, he guarded the opening of the cave all night, Athena, the goddess of wisdom gave me the most phenomenal idea. She said to tie ourselves underneath some of the sheep belonging to Polyphemus, the cyclops.
So that morning we did as Athena said. And then we waited for the great Polyphemus to let the sheep out for their daily grazing. I tied myself to the Ram, the head of the flock, as some might say. The cyclops decided to stop the ram and talk to it for a bit, which made me a little worried. Once Polyphemus let the ram pass and graze with the rest, my men and I untied ourselves and made our way to the ship.
But before we left, I decided it would entertaining to taunt the cyclops. I suppose I must have made him "a little" mad because he ended up throwing the top of a mountain towards the ship, which caused us to drift back to the shore. At this point, I made the decision of telling Polyphemus my real name. Once I said who I was, the cyclops prayed to Poseidon, the god of the sea, that he wished my crew and I would not make it home.
